Speedway Elite League spot for Ashley Birks of Scunthorpe Scorpions
ASHLEY Birks of the Scunthorpe Scorpions has secured an Elite League spot for 2013.
The 22-year-old will double up with Swindon after impressing boss Alun Rossiter when guesting for the Robins in June.

Birks scored two paid three in a 60-33 thrashing of Wolverhampton and caught the eye with a sensational season for Scunthorpe, stepping up from reserve into the main body of the team as he captained them to the Premier League title.
Rossiter is confident the young prodigy can make the next step up.

"He's only been in speedway a short time so we might have to persevere for a bit, but we certainly see something in him," he said.
"I can see potential in him and I'm hoping he can fulfil that when he settles in and starts riding on a regular basis.
"When he rode for me against Wolverhampton I liked his attitude and approach to everything. From what I've seen and the feedback I've had, I've got a good feel about him. He's one for the future."
