THE line up of this year's Pub Idol grand final is now complete as two outstanding contestants secure the last places with two show-stopping performances.

Seven singers took to the stage on Monday in the hope of moving one step closer to the prestigious Pub Idol title and trophy.

A jam-packed audience at the Black Beauty in Bottesford created an electrifying atmosphere for the seventh and final heat in the competition.

Compere Ian McLane said once again the talent of the competitors was exceptionally high.

"Monday was an excellent night all seven of the competitors who took to the stage was fantastic," he said.

"We have not had a bad singer in the entire competition and this heat was particularly tough.

"It was a particularly exciting evening and there was a look of horror on the judges faces when they had heard all seven singers because all of them were extremely good and the judging was extremely difficult, the marking was very close."

The winner of this week's heat, Sophie Dunbar, 18, from Alan Crescent Scunthope wowed the judges with her mature voice.

The John Leggott Student sang To Make You Feel My Love - by Adele and Mamma Do - by Pixie Lott.

"This is the first time I have ever entered Pub Idol and I think it is a fantastic competition," she said.

"There was a very big crowd who were all really supportive which made for a great evening.

"I took part in Class Act when I was at school and I really enjoy performing.

"My favourite artists are Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Amy Wade."

Sophia Kokkini, 27, from Hugh Street, Barton-Upon-Humber took second place and secured a spot in the final with her renditions of Falling - by Alicia Keys and I'm Every Woman - by Chaka Khan.

"The evening was absolutely fantastic, I love singing and performing," she said.

"I have never entered Pub Idol before but I decided to enter at the last minute after watching one of the previous rounds at The Carnival in Barton.

"I have always loved singing but I have taken a break for seven years so it was brilliant to get back into it."

Sophie and Sophia will now join the other finalist at Reeds Hotel on Monday, September 14 where they will battle it out for the £500 prize.

The evening promises to be a night to remember and a limited number of tickets are available.
