Strong Scunthorpe influence in Humberside athletics team

TWELVE Scunthorpe and District Athletic club member are set to represent Humberside in an inter-counties match at Leicester next weekend.

The match is an under-13 and under-15 event only, with two athletes per event, but an athlete is not allowed to compete in more than three events.

Humberside will face Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.

At under-13 boy's level, Mitchell Bailes is selected for the A-string shot putt, Harry Raven has been selected for the B-string high jump and Leo Adamson is part of the A-string 4x100m relay team.

Alex Hendy has been selected in two A-string under-15 boy's events, the 400m and as the 400m runner for the medley relay team.

Elliot Stones has been chosen for the A 1500m, Alex Merrils will run the 300m leg of the A medley relay team and Jacob Hammond will compete in the A javelin.

Jacob is also selected for the B-string 80m hurdles and Nathan Togun is selected for both the B long jump and B discus.

Alex Merrills is set for the B 400m and Anthony Gilliatt will compete in the B javelin.

Stephanie O'Connor is set to compete in the under-15 girl's B 200m and A 4x200m relay and Ellie Standerline is selected for the B long jump.

While Kate Pattison has been chosen for two A string events, the shot putt and discus.

There are another 16 Scunthorpe and District athletes on standby for the event as well.

Leo Adamson (100m and high jump), Jack Gregory (long jump), Jacob Shannon (75m hurdles), Adam Harrison 200m and long jump) and Mitchell Bailes (800m) are all on standby as reserves for the under-13 boys.

Nathan Togun (100m and shot putt), Anthony Gilliatt (discus, 80m hurdles, long jump and 800m), Callum Smith (100m and 200m), Chris Andrew (400m), Jacob Hmmond (800m, long jump, discus and shot putt) are all on standby for the under-15 boys.

Rosie Tate is a reserve for the 70m hurdles for the under-13 girls.

And Stephanie O'Connor (100m), Rachel Clayton (800m), Ellie Standerline (shot putt) and Hannah Dunkerley (shot putt) are reserves for the under-15 girls.
