Summit points to £120bn E20 trade potential
economy: The first E20 conference has been held to help businesses tap into a £120 billion market.
E20 is a 1,880km route across Europe from west to east, from Limerick in Ireland to St Petersburg in Russia. With Hull and East Yorkshire being close to the centre of the route, the region's businesses have the potential to reap big benefits.
The conference was hosted by Hull University Business School and was opened by Humber LEP chairperson Lord Haskins, of Skidby, with the aim of identifying innovative ways of stimulating economic growth, particularly through logistics and expansion into neighbouring markets, across the six countries of the E20 route. The combined economy of the E20 markets is estimated at £120 billion.
A fact-finding delegation of Estonian civic and commercial business leaders from the Estonian Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Association and the Estonian Logistics Cluster were present as VIP guests.

Professor David Grant, director of the university's Logistics Institute, said: "The Estonian businesspeople made it abundantly clear they are keen to do business with the region. I am confident local stakeholders, in particular the LEP, International Trade Centre and council will seize all opportunities to encourage Estonian inward investment. We will continue to support them by providing a stream of highly trained logistics and business graduates."
