TV clash will be big boost to Scunthorpe speedway says promoter Rob Godfrey
SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey says the Scorpions' date with the Sky Sports cameras will be the 'shot in the arm' the club need at the start of their title defence.
On Tuesday, April 30, the television cameras will turn up at the Eddie Wright Raceway to broadcast the Premier League clash with Workington Comets live.

Rather than encouraging people to watch from the comfort of their living room however, Godfrey is expecting a bumper crowd.
"It's a celebration," he said. "It's a boost for everyone.

"In the Elite League, attendances tend to be down when it's on Sky because people watch it at home.
"In the Premier League, it tends to be the reverse because it's a novelty.
"If it was on every week less people would probably come because it's on TV, but as a one off it tends to bring people in.
"It's a carnival atmosphere and with the excitement of being on TV more people tend to attend.
"I know for a fact there are buses coming from Workington, so there will be a great away support and hopefully a great home support and some good racing.
"Hopefully it sets us up for the season."
It is four years since Sky were last in town to film Scunthorpe's local derby with Sheffield.
The occasion was well received by fans and pundits alike and Godfrey is delighted to get the chance to once more showcase some great racing.
"It's just the shot in the arm we need," he said of the meeting which has been moved back four days from its original date of April 26.
"We're league champions and starting off a new season, we can now sell it to the public, sell it to our sponsors and sell it to the town.
"Scunny on Sky, it's a big thing.
"Hopefully we can put a good show on and be as good as last time. It's a good meeting or them to choose.
"I'm pleased and I'm sure the fans will be as well.
"They know we deserve it as well and know what we can produce.
"They're all proud of our club as much as I am."

“Great news Rob, this will be a fantastic meetig to film, both teams are classed as being front runners in the Premier League and as state this should draw a good crowd.
Filming a Premier League match will also draw a good following and they usually result in better racing than the follow the leader that we get from Elite League clashes.
This will be a great night for Scorpion followers when we can attend the meeting, and then return home and watch it again on TV, it should also attract a few more people to visit EWR meetings on a more regular basis.
Roll on March !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
