Tata pipe may be central to flooding problem on Scunthorpe street

A footpath on Brumby Wood Lane in Scunthorpe was flooded this morning (Friday Sept 7).

The flooding - also affecting part of the the road - occurred between Quibell Park and Scotter Bottom.

One onlooker told the Scunthorpe Telegraph today: “There’s a lot of flooding on the footpath and a bit on the road as well.”

A spokesman for Anglian Water said later: “We are aware of this issue, but it is not one of our pipes.

“The pipe is a raw water pipe for Tata Steel.

“We have spoken with the company and they are dealing with the leak today.”

So far, Tata has not commented.

    “It's suffered with flooding for years down there, especially at the bottom of the hill where that bungalow is, it always has a rancid stench in that area from where the sewage has spewed out of the manholes.”
