THE late North Lincolnshire author Ted Lewis who created one of the big screen's best-known characters is himself set to be the subject of a new movie.

Mr Lewis, who died in Scunthorpe General Hospital in 1982 aged 41, wrote Jack's Return Home, the book that spawned the film Get Carter and the character Jack Carter as played by both Michael Caine and Sylvester Stallone.

Two Barton-Upon-Humber based writers, Nick Triplow and Laurie Harvey, have scripted a 20-minute film about The Carter creator.

Called Ted's Return Home, it will be given its world premiere at the Vue Cinema. Hull, on June 23 at 7.30pm.

In the film the late author comes face-to-face with one of his characters - not in Newcastle where the Get Carter film with Caine was filmed - but in his native North Lincolnshire.

Mr Triplow and Mr Harvey, who will also host a question and answer session at The Vue Cinema, are also writing a biography about Ted Lewis to be published in the new year.

Interest in Mr Lewis is growing around the world following the recent visit to North Lincolnshire of American writer Brian Greene who is also writing a book about the Barton author.
