Teenager handed ASBO in bid to end his reign of terror
A TEENAGER who plagued his community with insults, antisocial behaviour and underage drinking has been given an Asbo.
Robert Richard Sherriff, 18, of Mallard, Court, Scunthorpe, has been bound over by North Lincolnshire Magistrates’ Court to behave himself, following a series of complaints by members of the public.

BANNED: Eighteen-year-old Robert Sherriff has been slapped with an Asbo.
Under the order, Sherriff is banned from drinking in any public place in North Lincolnshire, threatening people and throwing or kicking objects at people or houses.
Anyone breaching an Asbo risks a return visit to court and a prison sentence.
Sergeant James Main said the Asbo was issued as part of a bid by police, North Lincolnshire Homes and Safer Neighbourhoods to improve the area around Merlin Road in Scunthorpe.
He said: “The order relates to antisocial behaviour, underage drinking and being a general nuisance – it was issued as part of ongoing work to clear up the Merlin Road area.
“Sherriff was one of the key offenders in that area. We’d received a number of complaints from members of the public. Both the antisocial behaviour and the drinking were causing an issue for local people.”
The court-issued order, which lasts three years, also bans the teen from entering any school or college grounds unless attending to learn or for a scheduled appointment.
Trespassing in other people’s gardens, sheds, garages or homes would also count as a breach of the rules.
Sergeant Main added: “As neighbourhood police we work very closely with our partners and we all listen to the concerns of the community.
“In this case, the neighbourhood was fully in support of the action taken. This should serve as a warning to anyone committing antisocial behaviour that it is taken seriously, we will pursue complaints and it can result in action like this being taken.
“Anyone issued with an Asbo risks a prison sentence if they decide to breach it.”
To report antisocial behaviour, call Humberside Police’s non-emergency number, 0845 6060222.
