Temporary closure date for Scunthorpe Post Office to allow revamp and longer opening hours
The Post Office is modernising its Doncaster Road facility in Scunthorpe into a new 'main' style open-plan branch with longer opening hours for customers.
As part of Post Office plans to modernise the network and extend the opening hours for customers Doncaster Road Post Office will have four serving positions, a mixture of one screened and two open plan, with a Post Office serving point at the retail till - a new concept for delivering Post Office services alongside retail transactions during shop opening hours.

Post Office regional network manager for Central England, Adrian Wales, said: "We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Doncaster Road and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
He added: "This modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6,000 branches (about half the Post Office network) converting to new-style branches. This investment makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes."
Post Office customers will benefit from opening hours being extended by 12.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday: 8am – 6pm and longer hours on Saturday afternoon until 5.30pm.
The Post Office, now independent of Royal Mail, is the largest retail network in the UK, with over 11,500 branches. It is also one of the fastest growing financial services companies and is developing its online and telephony services.
