NEW tenants have been officially welcomed into an affordable housing scheme in Kirton in Lindsey by the mayor of North Lincolnshire.

Coun Jawaid Ishaq cut the ribbon of one of the 'beautiful' two bedroom homes, available for half the price of properties on the open market through Havelok Homes.

The scheme is designed to allow people who would not be able to afford a suitable property on the open market to get on the property ladder.

Ten two-bedroom homes were opened by the mayor yesterday: six houses and two bungalows for rent and two houses for sale.

New tenant Ann Buckel (62) was delighted by the quality of the housing on Mill Lane, Kirton in Lindsey.

And new mum Jessica Richardson (19) has moved into a house on Mill Lane with her 14-month-old son Harvey.

She said: "As soon as I saw this house I wanted to move in."

Havelok Homes managing director Peter Osborne said the ten homes are the first of twenty planned for North Lincolnshire over the next three years.
