Theatres make a splash with spectacle, music and laughs
Theatre-goers are to be offered a different kind of coat to beat Spring chills as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat comes to Scunthorpe's Baths Hall.
Bill Kenwright's production of The Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber classic is coming to North Lincolnshire for the first time between Tuesday, March 13 and Saturday, March 17 after receiving sensational reviews.
Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colours, this popular, magical musical will feature BBC TV talent show Any Dream Will Do runner-up Keith Jack in the starring role.
Joseph is joined by another entertainment heavyweight as the American Anthems Spectacular Rock Musical explodes into the Baths Hall on Saturday, February 11 featuring songs by Meatloaf, Bon Jovi and Guns 'n' Roses.
Produced in association with Harley-Davidson, and promising to be the rock show of the year, this musical is based around the search for a legendary rock star that disappeared in the early 90s at the height of his fame.
Appearing as a guest star is the legendary John Parr, who had a worldwide number one hit with St Elmo's Fire.
Brendan Cole, star of Strictly Come Dancing, will be bringing his fantastic new show, entitled Brendan Cole – Live and Unjudged to The Baths Hall on Wednesday, February 1.
And dancing of a different kind will take to the stage when The Moscow City Ballet will be performing the breathtakingly beautiful Swan Lake with its best young dancers and magnificent live orchestra on Thursday, March 22 and Friday, March 23.
It will also be floating along elegantly to The Nutcracker on Saturday 24 – a classically choreographed routine which, according to the Sunday Times "ensembles pieces with a delightful triumph, finished with a dazzling flourish".
The exhilarating and incomparable Chinese State Circus is bringing its first ever European Tour for a three-night stop in Scunthorpe between Friday, April 13 and Sunday, April 15.
Thirty gymnasts, contortionists, artists and performers will impress audiences as well as live music performers. Motown fans will be pleased to hear about the Club Soul Sounds night planned for February 17, featuring DJs Casper, Ian Gee and many more."
Dan Harris, General Manager of The Baths Hall, said: "We've had a fantastic first few months in Scunthorpe's most exciting new venue and the treats are going to keep coming next year with the West End production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and the exquisite Moscow City Ballet among the shows already announced for our Spring Season.
"We're adding new productions to our line up at The Baths Hall all the time – so watch this space."
