VISITORS to the Isle of Axholme will have somewhere to search for the best visitor hotspots when part of a residential block is transformed into a tourist information centre.

Plans for Phase Two of the £3-million regeneration project are now taking shape, with the news that further properties are in the process of being snapped up and cash savings have enabled the regeneration team to buy additional market stalls.

The restoration of properties 45-47 High Street, Crowle, are being looked at by Yorkshire Forward.

It is understood that the funding body has acquired both High Street properties and plans to transform number 47 into a tourist information point.

Cllr Trevor Barker updated councillors at the Crowle Town Council meeting earlier this week.

He said: "Yorkshire Forward will acquire the buildings to restore them as a historic building and one will become a tourist information.

"The contractors are three weeks late with the plans but they are going to pull some of that time back.

"Clugstons have saved some money and as a result, there are plans to spend that money on other things like the purchase of market stalls ready for the first market."

“living in crowle as a young person it is a nightmare that people cant even get to the local shops and is a big waste of money, who is going to want a fountain in the market place?

there is a big problem with the fact that local business such as the shop on the high steer the butchers and the takeaways are not getting the passing trade and speaking with some of the business owners they think it is shocking the amount of trade that they are losing. being born and raised in Crowle i have seen a lot of chage such as new estates and changes but this is by far the most stupiest i have seen yet.

3 million pounds to cover the costs? they spent 2 million on just designing and planning the thing!!!”

“it is clear that AJT does not know what i am on about so i wil explain
There is a differance between a Market Place and a Market Street
A market street is a highway that can be closed for holding markets by Act of parliment

A market pace dreated by statute or perscription cannot be by law a highway,
there clearly will be an unlawful highway in crowle market place after this work .
ADJ claim that there will be less highway is absurd”

“I don't know what John is on about. The improvements in the market place will reduce the amount of 'Public Highway' in the market place and recreate a market place that can be used for markets by the people of Crowle - something that has not been possible for a very long time!”

“SimonDriver C/executive recieved a partition i organised objecting to crowle market place being turned int oa highway. Because the market place is a chartered market it requires an Act of parliment to change its status What parliament has given only parliament can take away.
Mr driver and his officers do not believe the law applies to them
This is political, the ruling goup belief they can win votes in Crowle promoting this project.
should the market place be covered with paving and setts produced by child labour and women in horrific working conditions in India were pay is less than a doller a day and and in china by political convicts as slave labour then kirk and Ragan should be ashamed
