A PARADE, flypast, and much more has been organised to create a 'gala-style' event to honour the regions armed forces.

Dance troops, musicians, food stalls and football competitions are just some of the events booked for North Lincolnshire's first Armed Forces Day celebrations.

Members of the Scunthorpe Armed Forces Day Committee, (SAFDEC), are putting together a varied programme of events to mark the major military operation on June 26.

Doug Gawley chairman of SAFDEC said: "This will be the first Armed Forces Day to be held in Scunthorpe, a town that has suffered the loss and injury of its young men and the committee strongly feel that there should be recognition of our Armed

Forces and their families by the community."

The event will be staged at Quibell Park, Brumby Wood Lane, Scunthorpe.

As reported plans are in place to invite the families of North Lincolnshire soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq for a special salute.

There will also be full parade of serving forces and veterans, cadet organisations, service standards in the morning.

    “>>Andy

before your lads went to Afghanistan the Taliban were trained and funded by the governments of the USA and UK.

People like you should read a few history books before shouting off the usual daily mail / sun reader nonsense.

The government is making fools of you and these poor soldiers who are sent there to carry out the will of the rich. You are being brainwashed into thinking there is a terrorist threat it's all smoke and mirrors and the truth will out one day.

“before our lads went to Afghanistan the so called men of the taliban were able to abuse, kill and treat women worse then dogs, that's probably why Rasheed is here now because he can't beat women over there and get away with it so easily. So like the typical cowardly type they are he has run to a safe haven where he is allowed to open his foul mouth and preach his hatred. Go stand in your own country and try mouthing off, see what you get”

“Asheed, despite the fact you are probably troling, you are quite erroneous in your comment.

The Britsh military are not there to fight for my country, our country or your country, they are there to secure the provision of oil pipelines from Uzbekistan, Tajikestan through to Turkey so they have to avoid Iran etc,

They invaded Afghanistan on a whim of an oil hungry power mad idiot in the USA and that corrupt puppet Blair

they will all answer for their wrongs in time.”
