Trialists can't prevent Iron reserves' defeat to Leeds United
SCUNTHORPE United manager Ian Baraclough will today decide whether or not to have a further look at two trialists who featured for the Iron's reserves last night.
Former Bristol City winger Jennison Myrie-Williams and non-league striker John Campbell both featured as United's second string were beaten comfortably by Leeds United at Glanford Park.

IN ACTION: Jennison Myrie-Williams runs at the Leeds defence last night.
Myrie-Williams, 22, is looking for a club after a spell in Scotland, where he played for both Dundee United and St Johnstone, whom he has left after the expiration of a short-term contract.
At home on either flank, he is blessed with pace, but has failed to hold down a regular starting berth at any of the eight clubs in which he's played for either permanently or on loan.
Rookie front man Campbell has come to the attention of several Football League clubs as a result of his goalscoring exploits for Newcastle Benfield.
The 22-year-old forward has netted 20 times already this term for the Northern League club and has impressed League One duo Swindon Town and Leyton Orient, with the latter only last week rumoured to have offered the player an 18-month deal.
Neither Myrie-Williams or Campbell were able to prevent a young Iron team going down 3-0 last night.
It was the first of two meetings between the clubs this week with Scunthorpe's first team travelling to Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday.

“Dan I`m not disputing that there is some quality in non-league football, you`ve mentioned some of the finds yourself.
In our situation though, with our Championship status at risk, is it fair on the supporters and the player himself to expect someone who plays at that low a level to effectively score the goals that will keep us up?
As for him having already netted twenty times this season, have a look at the goal differences of some of the teams in the STL Northern League. -70 for one of them, so hardly a barometer of the players ability if the league is that poor
For all the good players unearthed, there will always be the Wheatcrofts as well.”

“Ok, the snipers are hard at work trying to discredit the real fans posting real opinions, but where is the beef? I see no action, no comment, no real commitment to change coming from the club. Something has to happen or the club faces the very real scenario of a "Barry Thomas" situation. Thousands walking away, disillusioned and clinically fed up. Where is the EFFORT?
To be fair there's very little to be positive about. The team appear to be in freefall. The club doesn't show much ambition in stopping the decline and confidence all round is at its lowest for years. In my opinion January is make or break time and if we continue down this path we'll see the the lowest renewal of season tickets for years and the 'happy clappers' will be a thing of the past. Time for action now as the fat lady is just clearing her throat.”

“One word. Best player is supposedly Woolford who came from non-league. Forest wanted to pay £400,000 for him didn't they. Didn't one of the Fulham regular starters come from non-league a few years back (Barry Hayles?) What about Chris Smalling who signed from non-league before he went to Fulham and eventually Man Utd or indeed numerous others. Non-league doesn't neccesarily mean no quality! If they were lucking at the football at Quibell park then I might be more worried about the calibre. (Oh and before people start naming the numerous people who didn't make it then think about those people who did and were worth a few bob but turned out to be rubbish e.g. Taibi, Veron-maybe we should sign players of that ilk!”

“P.Doff - have you ever considered that you get censored because you're on here all day spouting the same rubbish? Maybe the moderators delete your comments because they want their readers to read something fresh and new instead of your self obssessed rants.”

“This latest ET rubbish really sums up the situation at Scunthorpe United.
"The club must bring in 4 or 5 new players at the start of the transfer window". "The club have made an offer for Hoskins" etc etc.
In reality, the club is looking at a guy that has had trials with 8 lower or Scottish clubs, but not been able to receive a contract offer, and a player from the Northern League, this is our tended intake of new players ha ha!
The club and its management are a joke.
I am just wandering how the HAPPY CLAPPERS can defend our so called management.
WHARTON, PLEASE RESIGN AND STAY AT HOME AND COUNT YOUR MONEY, YOU ARE MAKING US A BIGGER LAUGHING STOCK THAN EVER.
WHICH PLAYER HAS THE ET PICKED OUT FOR TOMORROWS BLOG!!”

“It wil interesting to see how Campbell fairs against West Allotment Celtic in the Northumberland Senior Cup quarter final tonight then.
In the football pyramid where does the STL Northern League rank?
Seriously is this the really the best place to be looking for players to try and save our Championship status?”
