STAR: Craftsman Anthony Lombardi
Known as 'Lombo' to his friends, he is survived by his heartbroken fiancé Ellie, one year-old son Harvey and his parents, Helen and Walter.
In a statement, his family said: "Anthony was a loving son, brother, father, uncle and fiancée.
"Everyone who loved Anthony is proud of him for who he was and for what he was doing in the army.
"Everyone is gutted that such a talented, wonderful and popular person is now missing from their lives and his son will never grow up and understand what an amazing star Anthony was.
"He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and colleagues."
The mechanic, from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, was driving a Spartan vehicle as part of a supply convoy when it was hit by the blast.
The force of the explosion breached the hull, killing him instantly.

“I can only echo the views of others in praise of young soldiers like Anthony, except to say that that these brave young men are not dying for their own country but someone else's. Some may regard this as a worthy cause, but I ask - "is it really?" What are they defending, and why?
Bring our boys home now before there are many more bereaved families, heartbroken mothers and wives and fatherless children.”

“read this, so true
....." It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
Its the soldier, not the organizer, who has given us freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whos coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag".”

“Every comment here seems to express the same feelings many of us have, even if we not lost anyone out there. The reasons for being in Afghanistan given to us by politicians are not good enough and recent polls show a majority want the troops withdrawn. But action must be taken to make sure that our wishes are not ignored. Write to your MP or even the PM and tell them so.”
