Twitter service will aid motorists in North Lincolnshire
From Friday (Nov 30) North Lincolnshire people will be able to keep track of the area’s road conditions, and what the Highways team are up to, via Twitter.
North Lincolnshire Council is launching its highways Twitter service @NLCHighways
Staff in the highways section will update information on the Twitter feed.
They will inform of emergency road closures and road maintenance schedules including gritting times.

Councillor Neil Poole, from Messingham, Cabinet member for Policy and Resources said: “By keeping up-to-date with @NLCHighways the travelling public can understand road conditions before they set off on their journeys.
"It could prevent accidents and save lives.
“We’re constantly looking for new ways to communicate and engage. Social media is a key part of that.
"To follow the account you don’t even need a Twitter account. Of course the public can continue to contact us through our website and the contact centre. But we’re hoping that in many cases we can get information out without people having to ring.
“We will continue our push to transform the way we inform residents.”

“NLC , Highways department is this all they can do to help traffic flow , While congestion get worse in and around town . Pedestrian crossings where subways would help traffic flow , Berkeley circle is a fine example , and traffic lights that stop you for no reason ,Bus lane to nowhere . Pot holes appearing so soon repairs should have lasted much longer have they been done properly ??? or just bodged up , May be they have all been on twitter course .???LOL”
