UPDATED: Long delays for drivers after closure of A18 Mortal Ash Hill access to Scunthorpe
A road traffic collision between two vehicles on Mortal Ash Hill in Scunthorpe is causing delays for motorists who had to find alternative routes into town.
The collision took place this morning (Wednesday, December 19) between a white Clio and a blue Honda, on Mortal Ash Hill, near the B1398 Kirton Road junction.
Humberside Police were called to the scene at around 8.06am and both police and ambulance were in attendance.
The Mortal Ash Hill route into Scunthorpe was closed to motorists with traffic being directed away from the area by police on duty at the Briggate Lodge roundabout.

A police spokeswoman said: "Both police and ambulance were in attendance.
"There are no reports of serious injuries, but there have been some injuries.
"We are advising drivers to use a different route."
Many motorists bound for Scunthorpe who were turned back at the roundabout near the Forest Pines Hotel had to make a lengthy detour along the M180 and the M181 where they encountered further delays near the Berkeley Circle.
The once-popular diversionary route into Scunthorpe through Broughton and Dawes Lane - past the edge of the steelworks - is no longer available after access to the road was restricted.
UPDATE: Police later confirmed that the affected stretch of road reopened to traffic at 9.44am.
