CHARGED with pepping up a lacklustre Scunthorpe United attack, Ramon Nunez has had precious little time to do just that.

The Honduran international lasted 32 minutes of his Iron debut before being withdrawn following Paul Reid's red card during the 6-0 mauling at Norwich City.

But after a horror opening game in claret and blue, the Leeds United loanee is eager to prove his worth to a host of people.

There is of course those who follow Scunthorpe, but Leeds boss Simon Grayson and recently installed Honduras manager Luis Fernando Suarez will also be keeping tabs on him.

So when QPR come to town tomorrow, plenty of eyes will be on the 25-year-old.

"There is a lot riding on this move," admitted Nunez.

"First of all I feel I am doing it for myself, I need to get games in.

"Second of all I want to help Scunthorpe stay up.

"By doing that I can impress anyone else.

"It was a little bit of a gamble coming over to England to continue my playing career.

"I have had to start over again, obviously not from scratch, but it was a little bit of a gamble which I was willing to take and I am still willing to take.

"I am just waiting for that opportunity to come by and hopefully that will come at Scunthorpe."

His next chance to prove his worth arrives when league leading Rangers travel to Glanford Park.

There is no tougher test than that in the Championship at present, with the former FC Dallas midfielder expecting a similar game, style-wise, to that experienced at Carrow Road the previous weekend.

"It was a tough debut and not something you want in your first game, but it happens," added Nunez.

"The manager decided to take me off and I have to respect that fully.

"He is doing the best for the team – hopefully this game will be different.

"I didn't really get my chance to show what I could do.

"It was tough because we knew Norwich City were going to have a lot of the ball.

"It is going to be along the same lines tomorrow, with QPR trying to keep as much possession as possible.

"It will be a good test for us. It is in front of our own fans so we have to put a performance in."
