Gary Hooper expected to feature for Celtic this weekend
FORMER Scunthorpe United striker Gary Hooper is expected to pull on the green and white shirt of Celtic for the first time this weekend.
The Scottish giants are taking part in the annual Emirates Cup tournament hosted by Arsenal.
-

They play French side Lyon this afternoon before facing the Gunners tomorrow.
And Hooper is expected to play some part in one if not both of those games in his first taste of action since his £2.4million move from Glanford Park at the start of this week.
And if he catches the eye of manager Neil Lennon, then Hooper might just have some part to play next Wednesday as Celtic try to retrieve a 3-0 deficit against SC Braga in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
"I've shown I can score goals in the Championship. Now I need to show I can do it in the Champions League and SPL," he told the Scottish media.
"I owe Neil Lennon for this chance. I need to repay his faith in me.
"My target for the season is 20 goals – that's my minimum aim. I just want to get as many as I can get. I am here to score goals."

“Where are all you 'positive types' at home games? Every Iron fan I know is as miserible as sin, negative and expecting the worse...there is very little encouragement and hardly any singing - do you lads only put your 'positive hats' on when online?”

“1500 Club.
1. Stop being so bloody miserable
2. We don't need a Hooper replacement. We have new, young, hungry strikers to train up. We can't afford 'a hooper replacement's' wages.
3. We can survive this season, McNulty is better than Williams. Have you seen Mcnulty play?
4. Why don't you go support a larger team like Leeds or Dull? You want to see as a big Champ team who can spend money like water. I just hope I never meet a fan like you.”

“Apology accepted...just not the further essay of bed wetting over youtube clips and syrupy patronism over a smaller club!
PS any news in Scotland of any sell on clause included?”

“I wasnt wanting to start a rammy; so i apologise if i offended anyone with my comment. all i was trying to say was from the youtube videos i saw of your team (when i was scoping Hooper) i thought you had a good squad of players; some neat play; an attack minded gameplan and a staff who have an eye for a player; that they can mould.. rear and sell on for good dosh.. and then re-invest that on another aquisition...raising your game and profile; and league position. its the right principles of how a club should be run. coaching guys into better players. remember; like 20 years ago before sky got a hold of footie.
Im not being patronising; and am serious about about what i saw on youtube of your team. good ethos that will bode well for the future.
Aussie Mick; all the best to you; and i hope you have a good season watching your team this year. hope it goes well for you all. enjoy! P.”

“Why the negativity AussieMick? Surely we should be basking in the glory of existing?
My goodness me indeed! Hows about getting behind the team rather than predicting doom and gloom?
2.4 mill? No mention of a sell on? Southend recieving 500k? No replacement? No player part ex? An entire summer of ott 'spin'? Weeks of 'Hooper - what hapened next' to follow?
You can keep your back slapping and generous patronising 'well dones' - they wouldnt exist if we had a local rag capable of asking questions (Hayes/Hammond/Williams) instead of being a propaganda machine, aimed at two team supporters with a casual interest in their 'smaller' club.
Thanks again Celtic fans, no offence meant but your 'thanks' wont put points OR table, so give it a rest SET and MOVE ON.
ONE GARY HOOPER - UP THE IRON!”

“Goodness me, here is a young chap from Glasgow congratulating us on our abilities and the response he gets is a rant from Mr 1500 club. I think 1500 club is taking over from P.Doff (or is he his brother?).
Paul from Glasgow thank you for the compliment, our ability to buy improve and sell on players has helped us achieve a golden period over the last 5 years. Unfortunately , without being too negative i fear our run is over.
