United boss aware of big picture
SCUNTHORPE United boss Nigel Adkins has admitted he will be looking at the 'big picture' when he chooses his side for the clash with Newcastle United tonight.
Adkins refused to confirm that leading scorer Gary Hooper would be back for the trip to the league leaders, despite the striker being spotted in full training gear at Glanford Park yesterday.

Nigel Adkins.
There is no greater test in the Championship at the minute than a game at St James' Park, with the Iron manager suggesting there may be changes to his team, with clashes against relegation rivals Plymouth Argyle and Peterborough United on the horizon.
"We have to have an eye on the Plymouth game and we have to have an eye on the Peterborough game because that's the big picture," said Adkins.
"It is that interesting dilemma when making sure you have got the players ready for Saturday's game but you have got to go one game at a time.
"I am always looking at the big picture to make sure we stay in this division for next season.
"All the players will be desperate to play at Newcastle.
"It's the same as being in a cup final, they all want to play at Newcastle.
"I have got to make that decision which is right for the team to make sure we go up there with a chance to win it and likewise I have got to make sure we give ourselves the chance to win on Saturday and next Tuesday."

“Sounds a bit desperate Nige. Forget about using a big picture and teach the back four and midfield to actually defend so they fill up the space instead might work better.”

“embarrasing is the word! If it was boxing the match would be stopped.Match stats a this stage show Newcastle 11 shots on goal, 4 off target and Scunthorpe just 2 off target. Down 2-0 and one goal disallowed and hit the bar once! We have just won our first corner -Newcastle have had 8. Its too easy.”

“The thing is Mark that most people on here use their brains for things other than a door stop (unlike yourself might wanna try wiring it up some time that baby must be fresh).”

“What? You get stick of Codheads at work?! They're going out of the league, have a dump of a ground and aren't as solvent as United!! If I were you mate, I'd be having a right laugh....when's the last time they won anything?! You can tell how bad it is for them that their armchair fans have to come on here and spout drivel...”

“Mark - the coded.
An adult ticket for tonights game is £20.
A ticket for yourself would be £10 (children)
Also how much do you pay to watch the Cod eds disappear into obscurity or are you an armchair supporter.”

“Sorry guys. I've now realised I'm a simpleton. I'm going to write my childish scrawl somewhere more befitting from now on, like on the back of toilet door.”

“You never know. If the Toon come out over confident. Lets face it nobody expects us to win. So if the Iron just enjoy themselves and play the attacking football they are capable of, they just might nick it!”
