DEFENDER David Mirfin insists Scunthorpe United will bounce quickly back from the disappointment of Saturday's 2-1 home defeat against Crystal Palace.

And he has warned people not to write them off in two difficult away games this week at West Brom and Leicester.

"The lads are so disappointed with the Palace result so we just want to get out there against West Brom tomorrow night and try to put it right," Mirfin insisted.

"It was a great chance for us to get into the top half of the table.

"We had a lot of chances, but we failed to take them and we rue that now.

"We'll learn from it and remember that the difference between teams at this level are those that take their chances and those who don't.

"I don't think anyone outside the club will even be giving us a chance in the games at West Brom tomorrow and Leicester on Saturday.

"But, as a team, we're confident that we can go to those sort of places and cause upsets."

“Brumby what a load of pessemistic rubbish, Palace were lucky on saturday. And 12 defeats, don't talk wet daft lad. Go and support that load of tripe up the road at Blundell park.”

“Palace's form was better than ours, they don't play pretty, they get results. A draw wouldn't have been a bad result after all. I expect 2 defeats now, but Nige and the boys tend to prove us all wrong sometimes.”

“The ref was rubbish on Saturday. He was lenient with Palace on two obvious occasions - the double footed challenge on Hayes that escaped with only a yellow, and the blatant kicking away of the ball (under his nose!) which escaped with nothing. On a normal day Williams would have been sent off - he went through the player to get the ball - but having been lenient in Palace's favour previously he decided not to be in ours. The inconsistency sometimes is a joke. Having said all of that, we had a hatful of chances in the first half and the game should have been buried at half time. McDermott was average at best - repeating his average performance in the second half at QPR - and Adkins' comments on Humberside beforehand that he might 'unlock the defence' have been proved wrong. His man of the match award was a sympathy vote, a 'thank you for coming to Scunthorpe United' and nothing more than that. Why Woolford, O'Connor or Wright weren't brought on to replace him before Palace had even scored is beyond me. The day was one of disappointment and frustration, and the fans claiming last week that we might be pushing for the play offs should be concentrating more on what's going on in the relegation zone.”
