PLANS to flatten De Lacy House in Winterton and build 16 bungalows have been approved.

The proposals were discussed at a special meeting of North Lincolnshire Council's planning committee this afternoon.

The committee was split, with five councillors in favour and five against. Chairman Arthur Bunyan's casting vote led to permission being granted.

The De Lacy House care home is now set to be demolished and replaced with a £1.8m care complex.

North Lincolnshire Council has argued the current site is under-used, but a number of campaigners in Winterton have expressed serious concerns about the plans.
