Shops across the region are bracing themselves for the effects of the snow, as it gets heavier this afternoon.

It is currently snowing heavy in Scunthorpe and Brigg, with reports of Brigg town centre being "really, really quiet".

    “Some schools have already contacted parents to pick the children up early; only in this country is this allowed to happen with 2" of lying snow. ST stop hyping up the fact that it is snowing as some fools out their will think that life this winter will grind to a halt. Get on with normal life and carry on as it is no way near a major event.”

    “its snowing in barrow on humber quite heavy big flakes lets get it over with now i can rember walking home from south ferriby works a few years ago we tie a rope round us all so we did not get left behind the road was blocked had to walk to work next day got there in end jus ready for breakfast time walked home at night as the council had not cleared the road as usual same thing will happen again lazy council north lincs seem the worst”

    “i see tesco selling snow shovels but the price has gone up de icer for cars tesco puts prices up when its frosty /snowing just another co by rip off tesco there fuel is 2p a liter dearer that some small garages but tesco says they are fair prices just anothe rip off as thing arnt bad enough not by charging more to make profits better at the publics expence i dont go to tesco very often at all use asda a lot cheaper for a weekly shop for people on fixed budgets”
