Visitors' delight as Normanby Hall entry prices frozen
Admission fees for Normanby Hall will stay the same for the next year – much to the delight of users.
North Lincolnshire Council has frozen single entry to the park at £5.60 for adults, £2.80 for children and £5.10 for over 60s.
Season tickets will remain between £12.50 and £45, with a £1 reduction if bought before June 1, 2013.
And the news has been welcomed by visitors, who feel people would be put off if the price was hiked.
Joanne Radley, 41, is a regular visitor to the park with her family.
The Scunthorpe mum said: "We have two children and we love to take them to Normanby Hall.
"It is very important that they keep the price the same, especially since lots of people aren't getting a wage increase at work.
"Putting the price up would put people off, because they might need that extra money elsewhere when the purse strings are tight.
"Normanby Hall is such a good place to go, especially for families.
"There is wildlife and open space for people to enjoy, and we particularly like walking in the deer park."
Susan Fox, 40, from Winterton, who takes her daughter, nieces and nephews to the country park regularly, said: "This is definitely good news. I am a season ticket holder at Normanby Hall, which I have always thought was good value.
"It is good that they are not putting prices up, because people will start to look elsewhere otherwise. Central Park has been improved greatly and is free to go to, so Normanby Hall has to provide good value.
"The open space is what I enjoy most, and the park holds good memories as my daughter learnt how to ride her bike there.
"I have been a season ticket holder for five years now and will definitely keep going."
Councillor John Briggs, cabinet member for asset management, culture and housing at North Lincolnshire Council, said: "It makes sense during the current economic climate to keep the prices down.
"We appreciate times are difficult for many people and the last thing we want is to deter people from visiting this fantastic venue that is right on their doorstep.
"Normanby Hall Country Park offers a great day out for families, groups and individuals. There is lots to see and do and it provides excellent value for money."
