NOW is the time Scunthorpe United fans will see the true character of their side.

Following a 2-1 loss at home to Watford, their sixth straight defeat at Glanford Park, the Iron trudged off the pitch, with midfielder Josh Wright claiming it to be the worst feeling he has had this season.

Although some may point to United having plenty of practice in the art of post-match blues, the nature of this particular reverse – in which Scunthorpe had a one-goal lead – landed a big psychological blow on the 21-year-old.

"I am massively disappointed, probably the most disappointed I have been walking off a pitch this season," Wright told the Telegraph.

"I just feel we could have had the game sewn up within 20 minutes of that second half.

"Yes, the stoppages (due to floodlight failure) don't help and the pitch was freezing up a bit but listen, there are 22 players out there and we have all got to deal with it.

"What can you say? It is disappointing but we have got to keep our heads up – we have given everything.

"The difference from the Doncaster game to this is unbelievable.

"We were just unlucky to not take our chances.

"Mickey (Michael O'Connor) on another day would stick his penalty away.

"It is frustrating but what can you do?

"It shows the character you need in football – this is when the real character comes out.

"You need to stand tall, roll your sleeves up and dig in, which we did yesterday, and we should have got something out of the game.

"We are only halfway, we have got all those games to go and sort it out."

The former Charlton Athletic man refused to blame the constantly failing floodlights, halting the game on two separate occasions after half-time.

"It was frustrating for us, but they had the same so I wouldn't like to use it as an excuse," added Wright.

"I don't think it interfered, no-one started better when the lights came back on.

"I think we were on the front foot at the times when we went off, but we have just got to deal with it."

“Wright must have spent the last month living 'the only way is Essex' cos his form doesnt do his ability any justice - great player but out of form.”

“The players trudged off feeling bad, how does the club think us long suffering fans think, missed penalty, Forte one on one failure once again, our goalkeeper rooted to his line for their first goal when all that was needed was for him to make one stride and either punch the ball clear, or catch it. It is high time Pressman was bladdered, because if he cannot see Murphys continual failings, he must be blind.

Add to this that on Monday night, our best midfielder O'cONNOR was subbed after ah hour, after which time everything went to sh--.

New signings, I have just looked at tonights updates:-
BRISTOL R 2 PLYMOUTH 0 after 11 minutes play, Hoskins both of the goals in the first ten minutes, please note that our so called centre forward has scored two goals in TWENTY MATCHES !!!!!!, and Barra does not know why we keep losing.

The fans are now beginning to show their decent by letting their feet do the talking, 4,400 on Monday night, including 600 from Watford, so 3,800 Scunny fans to see their team play their first home match for six weeks, you get what you deserve Wharton.”

“Eddie & others, please be patient, as soon as mine and Russ's contracts are sorted out then there will be some new signings/faces into the building. Players do not want to come here on pitifull contracts that are only re-negotiated in the last 3-6mths with a derisory offer. Murphy wants out as does Woolly, they let McCan't, Hayes, Spazzer, Hooper et al go during the last close season and replaced them with peanuts, when i get contracts sorted i will promise you Brazils!! Cliffy is relegated to the reserves for inept speed, elephants turn quicker than paddy! Forte is going away on shooting practise, he should be back in a couple of years! The 'hoof it' football will never be considered while i'm in charge, thought Bara was the son of Blackwell for a minute during the other night.

Oh and some new fuses that stay 'cool' when the power is on.”
