The warehouse it to be located in Scunthorpe but the location is not being disclosed.

A spokesman for the Hospice said: "The need for extra storage space has come about due to the generosity of local people who continue to donate lots of items that we can turn into cash to keep the hospice running.

"Not all donated goods can be sold immediately and unlike mainstream shops charity shops can’t order goods in according to season.

"With limited space in our shop storerooms around North Lincolnshire, we need extra space in one place where goods can be stored, sorted and distributed to all our shops when the time is right.

"Although there are costs to the warehouse, we hope to increase our shop profits through better timing of sales goods.

"As with our charity shops we keep running costs low by involving lots of volunteers in our shops, both behind the counter and in our backrooms.

"Our warehouse will not deal direct with customers so is ideal for someone used to working in a warehouse or storeroom environment who wants to make their contribution to Lindsey Lodge Hospice by giving time and effort rather than cash.

"Volunteers are needed on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday but will need to travel to the warehouse by car as it is not on a bus route."

If you can help by giving your time, drop in at any Lindsey Lodge Hospice shop or call retail trading manager Sue Sumner on 01724 270835.

A fashion snow in aid of the Hospice, which is in Burringham Road, will be held on Friday, March 1, courtesy of Co-operative Funeral Care.

The venue will be Heslam Park - the home of Scunthorpe rugby union and cricket clubs - off Ashby Road (7.30pm start).

Clothes can be bought on the night and there will be a raffle.

Tickets are now available for £5. Call 01724 843150.

Every year the hospice cares for, and supports, hundreds of patients from this area who have life-limiting conditions such as cancer, and also supports their families.

Hospice care is provided free of charge, but the charity relies heavily on the generosity of local people to raise the necessary funds.
