The Rescue Day charity raffle will still be drawn as planned.

And the Rescue Day charity event on Friday evening (July 13) will still be held.

Watch Manager Preskey, who is based in Scunthorpe, said although the weather was beyond anyone's control, apologies were given for any inconvenience caused by the cancellation of this year's event.

"Rest assured the decision has not been taken lightly and Rescue Day 2013 is already being planned," he added.

“I have to agree with jones2.

A rescue day called off due to a bit of rain? It beggars belief to be honest! Health and safety gone mad!”

“Rescue day cancelled because the grass is wet!! kind of sums up our modern world. Perhaps the idea of Britain as a warrior nation is very firmly in the past now. Keep calm and carry on chaps.”
