Weekend Rescue Day cancelled after bad weather hits Crowle area
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has been forced to cancel a major public event planned for the coming weekend.
Rescue Day - scheduled for Saturday, July 14 - has fallen foul of the wet weather which hit the venue near Crowle.
Spokesman Andy Preskey said: "7 Lakes is situated on what is predominantly a clay-based soil. The rainfall during the previous weeks and months has caused the clay to absorb excessive rainfall and is consequently now well past saturation point.
"The spate weather the region is currently experiencing is forecast to continue for a number of weeks and is causing water to stand across the site.

The Rescue Day charity raffle will still be drawn as planned.
And the Rescue Day charity event on Friday evening (July 13) will still be held.
Watch Manager Preskey, who is based in Scunthorpe, said although the weather was beyond anyone's control, apologies were given for any inconvenience caused by the cancellation of this year's event.
"Rest assured the decision has not been taken lightly and Rescue Day 2013 is already being planned," he added.
