A CANCER survivor has hailed her bouncing baby girl a 'miracle' after defying medics to give birth aged 41.

Anne-Marie Green, who has now been cancer free for over five years, gave birth to her daughter, Molly Anne Green, three weeks ago.

She was told she would never be able to conceive after undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer in 2002.

The quality assurance worker from Whitton said: "I never thought I would ever be a mum. You resign yourself to the fact that it is never going to happen.

"I didn't even think about it after I had cancer, I just thought it wouldn't be possible because of all the chemotherapy I had to go through."

She added: "It was a complete shock because of all the chemotherapy I had and my age. But Molly is amazing and my husband Stephen is a devoted daddy."

Anne-Marie was 16 weeks pregnant when she found out she and Stephen, 47, were to have their first child.

Dr Arshad Jamil, Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire where Anne-Marie received her treatment, said: "Our team are delighted for this lady and we wish her and her new baby the best of health.

"Chemotherapy can cause infertility and patients are warned about this but some do still conceive."

Mrs Green gave birth three weeks ago at Scunthorpe General Hospital to Molly, who weighed six and a half pounds.
