A MAN had to be sprayed by police officers after he kicked out at them during a disturbance in Scunthorpe.

Wayne Capon, 27, of Back Lane, Winteringham, admitted using threatening behaviour with intent to cause fear of unlawful violence on January 31 in a hearing at North Lincolnshire Magistrates' Court.

Fiona Bolder, prosecuting, said police were called to a disturbance at the address of Capon's ex-partner. He was heard to be threatening to go into the house and "beat someone up" and said he would "rip their heads off".

Capon kicked out at an officer and despite being sprayed to deter him, he lunged at officers again, Ms Bolder said.

The prosecutor said Capon told police he had gone with his mother to the address of his ex-partner, with whom he had split up the day before, to collect his belongings. Capon, who was unrepresented, told magistrates he was "disgusted with himself". He said: "I apologise. I know what I did was wrong."

His case was adjourned for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
