Wise Children Turn Rags into Riches at Local Nursery
Children at Wise Owl Private Day Nursery on Old Brumby Street in Scunthorpe have been turning their old rubbish into treasure. They have signed up for the "Phil the Bag" clothing recycle scheme which turns all unwanted clothes into funds for the organisation.
Toni Krajnik of Wise Owl Private Day Nursery said "Traditionally fundraising calls for donations of money, but not this time! Instead, we asked parents to bring all their unwanted items instead of placing them in the bin. In today's climate of fast fashion, people are replacing their old clothes more frequently than ever. The old ones usually end up being binned, or are left in the back of the wardrobe taking up room and gathering dust."

Wise Owl Private Day Nursery, which usualy gains money through race nights, is running their fundraising campaign in partnership with the experts at "Phil the Bag" who will give them £600 per tonne of the clothing that they collect. They also pay per kilo so every piece of clothing is vital to the fundraising campaign.
Wise Owl Private Day Nursery's Deputy Manager Lucy Polkinghorne said "Despite a number of local clothing banks and shops that welcome donations of used clothing, many people still bin their old unwanted items. Why not donate them to us instead? You'll be helping us to raise money for important Nursery resources for the children and helping save the environment at the same time"
