TWO thieves who stole a laptop from a shop were caught after an eagle-eyed customer pointed them out to staff, a court heard.

Jaimelee Finn, 19, and Stephen Herdman, 23, both of Porter Street, Scunthorpe, admitted stealing a laptop valued at £160 from Cash Exchange on December 19.

Jayne Wilson, prosecuting, told North Lincolnshire Magistrates' Court that Finn disconnected the laptop and stole it from a counter at the Scunthorpe shop while an assistant was busy serving a customer.

She and Herdman walked off but they were identified to staff by a customer and were later arrested at their home, the prosecutor said.

The laptop was found under a bed, Mrs Wilson said.

Sunny Dhinsa, mitigating, said both defendants made admissions.

They had been drinking and would have sold the laptop to raise cash, he said.

The pair were each given a six-month supervision order, including three months' drug treatment, and were each ordered to pay a £60 victims' surcharge.
