Armed with bunsen burners, hydrochloric acid and fingerprinting kits, the Year Nine pupils tried to solve the mystery 'Who pinched the salt'.
Science teacher Claire Cheney said the event was a huge success.
"The pupils had great fun exploring and developing their own detective skills.
"The task was a bit like a Cluedo 'who did it' scenario with a little tale attached to their brief to set the scene.
"The pupils were also given a special talk by Dr Lunt from Hull University which gave them a wonderful insight into the 'real CSI'."
Scott Marriss, 14, said the event has inspired him to look at Forensic Science as a future career.
"It was good fun working in a team to solve the mystery.
"I really enjoyed piecing everything together and the event made me think about using forensic science skills in a career such as the police force."
