A £20,000 grant has been handed to a team of police and council officials, who will use the cash pot to bring the beautiful game to rural areas.

Kids enjoying using the facilities at St Lawrence School in Scunthorpe.
The funding will allow sport schemes to be run in Barton-Upon-Humber, Brigg, the Isle of Axholme as well as Scunthorpe and the first event is to be held this Friday.
Pc Mick Tune said: "We want to have the right activities in the right place at the right time and part of that is putting them on when these kids socialise with each other.
"The one in Barton is running between 6pm and 9pm which is when anti-social behaviour tends to happen if it's going to."
The Scunthorpe United Trust is involved in the pilot event at Barton and hopes to work with police and the local authority in other areas in the future.
Lee Turnbull, chief executive of the trust said: "We've been operating for 20 years and while we have worked in Barton before, this evening event will be the first time we're engaging with older kids.
"We're aware Friday and Saturday evenings can be a nuisance for local people so if we can get teenagers involved in meaningful activities then everyone benefits."

“I agree bronco and jamie about the parents being responsible. as for the good hiding, the social workers don't allow that anymore, we would be in trouble for it. However, no excuse for kids being antisocial. Problem is you lead a horse to water, but can't force it to drink, and once they are out of your sight, you can only hope that they behave how you brought them up to, rather than get in with local chavs who think it's fun to misbehave and commit antisocial acts.”

“Your right Bronco - about time parents were held accountable for thir kids . Too many Parents are lacking in the core skills of bringing up children. I see many adults swearing and been disruptive in front of their kids...no wonder they dont stand a chance.”

“I remember when I was a youth, me and my mates would spend our spare time in the park playing football. We wouldnt be 'anti-social' because we knew we would get a good hiding from our parents. How times change, if the parents had more control £20,000 could be saved. just a thought”
