School pupils see work in print

YOUNGSTERS from Barton-Upon-Humber's Bowmandale Primary School saw their names in print as a book featuring their work was launched.

The book, called Our Community, was made possible by funding from Creative Partnerships, which is run by the Arts Council.

Each year group at the school focussed on a particular aspect of the school or the wider community, with sections ranging from the playground to Barton landmarks.

The book was then put together by creative practitioner and freelance journalist Matt Stephenson.

Year six pupil Thomas Dunderdale, 10, was impressed with the finished product.

He said: "It is very nice and there are lots of good drawings and pictures.

"I drew a picture of myself and did a bit of writing.

"I enjoyed doing it all and it is really good because people have been buying it as well."

Mr Stephenson added: "It is a lovely, friendly, family school and there is a strong sense of community.

"The children are all really proud of the town and that comes through in the book."

The books, which cost £10, can be ordered by contacting the school and should be ordered by July 8 for collection before the end of the summer term.
