'We are up for battle to survive' says Iron boss Baraclough
SCUNTHORPE United boss Ian Baraclough admitted there will be "teething problems" with his new-look squad after their 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough last night.
However, he insisted there were many positives to take from the game at the Riverside Stadium, where they were beaten by goals from Kris Boyd and Tony McMahon.

"I don't think we were bright enough on the ball in possession," he said. "I think we gave it away far too easily at times.
"We've said we need to be better on the ball.
"We've had new players coming in and players playing out of position, which isn't easy, but that was the position we were in. But I thought we started quite brightly.
"They went ahead with their first real attack and then it's an uphill battle.
"We had a couple of players go down with illness and we've got players out injured, so it stretches you.
"It was difficult because we had bodies down, but I think it brought us closer.
"There were no real harsh words in the dressing room, just ones saying we are good enough to stay up.
"And that wasn't just coming from me, it was coming from the players too.
"We're a tight group and they agree, although we are in a battle, we are up for the task."

“I've been wondering where Wharton has been - is he still Chairman? Dr Watson and I became bored of seeing his face in the press when we were doing well, dancing on the pitch with Adkins, chasing after Cleveland Taylor etc!
January - the month of multiple player sales, incoming loans, heart attacks, new stands, ground relocations, £2 million pound budgets, 600k rejected bids, players moaning at the fans, 'comedy sketch' transactions, floodlight failures, postponed games....thank the Lord thats over until next January!

“1500, love that Iraq reference. I think you mean the Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf(Comical Ali) though and not Ali Hassan al-Majid (Chemical Ali)
I can see Baraclot now, with Mr Bean expression as we're getting tonked by Hull:
"Today, the tide has turned,'' he said confidently. "We are destroying them."
and when we're relegated, spouting off to irate fans:
"I can assure you that those fans will recognize, will discover in appropriate time in the future how stupid they are and how they are pretending things which have never taken place"”

“If Bara were to go (which he won't) we would get Laws.
No thanks.”

“Last chance saloon on Saturday. If we don't beat Hull after all these wonderful signings, then its curtains for Barraclough. There's plenty of good managers out there with 100% motivation looking for a job, lets get one in to motivate the players. By the way os Wharton still Chairman, seems to have gone to water or maybe counting his profits with the sale of Wooley and Forte, because the new lot are either on loan or almost free transfers. “Same old guff week in week out. Baraclot does not inspire with his rhetoric, thank goodness he wasn't at Agincourt or leading Britain in defiance of Hitler. Losing to that mob over the Humber on Saturday is not an option.
No doubt we'll have various players wheeled out this week telling us they're up for it..again. Talk this season has been very, very cheap indeed.”

All sound like positives to me!”
