"It is not an ideal place to keep bees, next to a school.

"Even if nobody ever got stung, the sight of swarming bees is not nice for adults, never mind children and I think it is too risky."

Councillors voted not to grant permission for beekeeping on the site.

“Ricardo121 your experience seems to be based upon scare stories about Africanized Bees which can't actually survive in our climate. If honey bees were as dangerous as you seem to believe I odubt there would be hives in the community orchard or Pearson Park Wildlife Garden and I rather doubt I'd have 3 hives in my garden come to think of it.”

“It's not councillors, teachers or health and safety that are driving these daft decisions it's parents and the rest of the claim for this or claim for that brigade driven by idiotic campaigns on TV. That's why they close schools when a few snowflakes fall or the heating fails in summer!!”

“I have a large Lavender bush right outside my front door and in the summer it is covered in bees, I must have walked past it 10 to 20 times every day and not been stung! I could stand a couple of feet away just watching them and never once had any of them show mallace towards me.”

“Stupid decision. Kids need to learn about danger to stay safe, not be shielded from every danger! My son isn't allowed to take peanut butter in his pack up as a kid is allergic....”

“Hang on chaps, what about anaphylactic shock, a child could die if stung by one of these bees, so yes, I think the correct decision has been made.”
