"We are a local business as well."

The store specialises in low-cost fashion-wear and has had customers of all ages since opening.

Miss Wells said: "We get new stock coming in all of the time because we keep up to date with the fashions and with what people want.

"We have had older people coming in for the cardigans but we get younger people coming in as well."

Miss Wells encouraged other businesses to open stores in the town centre and fill remaining empty units.

She said: "It has gone really well for us but it depends what you want to do.

"You have to do a bit of research into what other people are doing to know how your shop is going to go.

"I don't like seeing empty shops and the TJ Hughes unit has been empty for ages.

"It would also be nice to see something other than pound shops.

"You don't need to open a pound shop to be a success."

Bliss also operates a variety of other stores across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Its arrival in Scunthorpe meant the former Officers Club unit was occupied for the first time in around a year.

It was the second new store to open in The Parishes in recent months, after 99p Stores began trading.

The bargain store opened in the former Peacock's unit in August, bringing with it 30 jobs.
