Dad's fears for Bermuda crash son

THE father of a Brigg man accused of killing a Bermudan by dangerous driving is becoming increasingly concerned about his son's health and wellbeing.

Dave Armstrong, whose 24-year-old son Luke is charged with causing the death of Bermudan Winston 'Yogi' Burrows by dangerous driving, said he fears for his son's safety on the island due to animosity from local residents.

"I am worried and concerned about Luke's health and wellbeing as there has been some animosity towards him about the case," he said.

"If Luke was able to work out there it would help to maintain his sanity and keep him going but the court revoked his work permit which I think is a blow beneath the belt."

Luke's hopes of returning to the UK to await his trial date were dashed this week when the court reinforced his original bail conditions meaning he is unable to leave Bermuda.

His dad Dave said this was a terrible disappointment.

"It is very difficult knowing Luke is hundreds of miles away, especially for his mother," he said.

"It's really disappointing he cannot come home. We keep trying but they won't change the bail conditions – all we can do is keep asking and trying."
