"However it is worth noting that drivers should take extra care when out in such weather and allow extra distance between vehicles, along with extra time for your journey so as not to rush around in conditions which greatly reduce visibility."

" . . . . They are Light Emitting Diodes and have NO filament so should last the lifetime of the car."

which won't be a long lifetime if it's doing 70 in thick fog”

“Mozart: I agree they are supposed to last for many years but I must have been unlucky, I bought an 184 LED uplighter LED/bulb and top section failed, I also had about 8 of the 21 LED strip type desk lamps from Netto (same problems had by Argus) which all had 1 or 2 LED's fail so returned, I have a 13 LED USB light for notebook and that died. I think many could be dry joints or other on board components failed but LED's might be OK but difficult to get at to fix. I have many other LED lights that up to now have worked fine but they are not bright enough for main lighting until technology improves. The problem with the LED bulbs for cars is adding the correct loading in circuit for flashers and others that sense bulb failure, also adding these things can invalidate manufacturers warranty.”

“IT_MAN. LED's are NOT bulbs. They are Light Emitting Diodes and have NO filament so should last the lifetime of the car.”

“LED bulbs are the future and should last longer when you think on some modern cars it can cost arround £100 to change a bulb, some need front end removing to get to bulb and some require the diagnostics computer connected, construction and use regulations should not have allowed this, all bulbs should be easy to change at roadside. Beware with changing to LED bulbs on modern multiplexed cars, I have read of problems so get advise first.”

“The biggest problem at this time of year is cyclists on the road with no lights working; it should not be an issue today as you can buy front and rear L.E.D lights that use very little battery power from the pound shop for very little money. Parents who allow kids out on bikes when it is dark with no lights should be prosecuted after the second reported offence. Also some that work at the works who ride along the road in the dark before or after a shift should know better. The works security should report any one they are aware of going or leaving the works with no lights in working order as a health and safety incident. Why should I have a black mark on my driving record because of some of these morons who are incapable of looking out for their own safety?”
