“It's seems every time a local school has been rebuilt/modernised Ofsted then mark it as failing and put into special measures. Just goes to show how upsetting & distracting the building works can be for pupils.

With the greatest respect, I suggest that your delusional powers of assumption do you no favours! Yet again.
There are evidently and I am sure many others who would equally argue and defend everyones' rights to refute, counter and/or challenge any message. However, preferably without having to purely rely on and resorting to shooting the messenger!!
Freedom of speech, civilised democratic debate and all that you understand!?
Except of course, for perhaps those Scunnyites/politicos who wish to continue playing their nasty/devious counter 'politics' (with one small p) and/or burying their heads in the sand?! ;)” -

“Aside from just doling out your personal attacks and insults; I'll be damned if we can determine what exactly is your point, contribution or challenge here?!
Pray tell what points in the original forum thread - and the many reasons/factors that in no small measure we feel have and will continue to contribute to Scunthorpe's woes and its dire reputation - do you refute and /or disagree with?
Please feel free to express and convince us with any counter argument and where we have possibly got it wrong in respect of our facts/evidence and judgment.
And indeed why we and others should have any confidence and trust in all the hype that Scunthorpe and area really does have something to offer. Especially to attract investors, developers, companies and families etc all looking to relocate to this area and, to forge their future hopes and aspirations?!” -

If you're in the doldrums, get yourself out of it by doing something positive instead of blaming everybody else but yourselves. Particularly, in cautioning all those potential unwary, unwise newcomers, families, individuals, businesses to be wary of all the hype.
And hopefully forewarn them that they seriously need to do their homework, before they unwittingly risk the potentail pitfalls of investing in and relocating to such a parochial backwater!
By using whatever channel of social media and for however many times it takes to get the message out and to counter cllr Briggs', NLC's or whoever's disingenuous, highly dubious hype!
PS And in that respect, we much appreciate your contribution to keeping this on the ST headliner webpage!! ;-)”

When Ofsted is continually judging and reporting Scunthorpe’s key colleges and the area’s schools as inadequate and putting them into special measures!
When the Dept for Education judges that a fifth of North Linc's primary schools are failing in their performance. And that it has the worst record in the UK for underperforming schools!
When Scunthorpe High Street & town have self evidently suffered from long term degeneration through the lack of investment; credible leadership, direction and policy!
When key NLC councillor/s are repeatedly called up in front of Standards Committees for alleged misconduct of intimidation, disrespect to others, etc. And others are perceived to mislead the public with half truths, false accusations and misrepresentation of the full facts! And some refuse to democratically engage and be challenged!
When that self styled citizen journalist and founder of the Telegraph’s sister community forum tweeted and publicly alleged: “As you well know, Scunthorpe has a crock of corrupt politicians on all sides, see no point denying it”!!
When even council leaders have acknowledged that, in order to make progress, they need to overcome an entrenched culture of lieing, cheating and bullying in the then Pitwood House!!
With respect to cllr Briggs, the movers and shakers and the great and the good of North Lincolnshire; moreso Scunthorpe. You all need to wake up and smell the coffee, well before your early morning dips!
Trust us. It is going to take far more than any extended swimming hours and improved entertainment & leisure facilities; to compete, attract and retain the desperately needed influx of capital, talent, calibre and integrity if this area is to ever reinvent and regenerate itself!”
