Customers happy with West Butterwick Post Office outreach

Thursday, August 07, 2008, 07:00

OUTREACH Post Office service in Wroot and West Butterwick have been heralded a success, despite teething problems.

The change, when six Post Offices closed in North Lincolnshire, caused a lot of worry for rural customers two months ago, with equipment failing and people unable to draw cash.

But now organisers and customers have said they are happy with the new set up.

Claire Beharrel (39), post mistress at Epworth PO running the system, said despite initial technical difficulties it is really taking off.

"The service has been absolutely fine for almost two months now after our initial teething problems," she said.

This week warnings were issued the service could fail if the Government did not pledge more cash for it.

A report by the Business and Enterprise Committee raised concerns about the level of pay for Outreach services.

Have your say

In recent months a series of plans have been revealed which could see windfarms built in North Lincolnshire. The latest involves an application near Burton. Do you think more windfarms should be built in the Scunthorpe area?
