Does Scunthorpe need a bus lane?

Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 12:21

SCUNTHORPE could soon be getting its very first bus lane.

For many years they have been common-place in larger towns and cities in a bid to beat congestion - but does Scunthorpe need one?

Work on the £30,000 development is expected to start in spring 2009 following the end of the consultation period with businesses and residents in December.

The proposed bus lane will extend about 400 yards along Oswald Road, from just past the junction with Mary Street to the junction of Station Road.

North Lincolnshire Council's head of safer roads, Pete Scott, said the lane would be in operation between 3.30pm and 6.30pm from Monday to Saturday.

During those periods, 18 parking spaces would be declared out of bounds.Click here!

So what to do you think?

Do you think it will ease congestion, create more problems for motorists or cause a parking headache?

It won't matter where you live in Burton, you will be looking up at these giants. We intend to employ a barrister specialising in this type of planning application to put over our case.

In recent months a series of plans have been revealed which could see windfarms built in North Lincolnshire. The latest involves an application near Burton. Do you think more windfarms should be built in the Scunthorpe area?
