Scunthorpe Alcoholic delivery driver jailed

Saturday, August 02, 2008, 22:30

AN ALCOHOLIC takeaway delivery driver who took to the roads when banned and over the legal alcohol limit, was jailed for four months.

North Lincolnshire magistrates heard Alec Austin (56), of Teale Street, Scunthorpe, was disqualified from driving for 32 months in August 2006, for drink driving.

But, in July 2007, he was back before the court for offences of disqualified and drink driving and given a four month jail sentence suspended for two years.

Debbie Sanders, prosecuting, said he was also given a three-year driving ban.

At about 9.20pm on July 28, police took a call from a concerned member of the public.

He was given a breath test and this showed he had 81 mcgs of alcohol in his system.

Austin admitted charges of drink driving, disqualified driving and having no insurance.

It won't matter where you live in Burton, you will be looking up at these giants. We intend to employ a barrister specialising in this type of planning application to put over our case.

Have your say

In recent months a series of plans have been revealed which could see windfarms built in North Lincolnshire. The latest involves an application near Burton. Do you think more windfarms should be built in the Scunthorpe area?
