“ John Leggott was the stepping stone that helped me to learn independence. Looking back I have no regrets and would still choose to go to this college. I thoroughly enjoyed all my lessons and the teachers were always more than helpful. The facilities were great and computers were always spare whenever I needed one allowing me to work during free periods and also to relax once work was completed. Photography was one of my favourite subjects and there were dark rooms available allowing us to explore different methods of photography and be creative. I learnt a great deal having such great facilities. The atmosphere of the college was mature and everyone was accepted for being themselves. I found that people who wanted to learn were there it brought a great sense of opportunity making me feel motivated to achieve my goals. It helped make me the person I am today. ”

Studying at college is different to studying at school. All students are here because they want to be, there is no uniform, and you do not have to stay on the site when you do not have lessons.
We have over 40 A level & BTEC National subjects along with a wide range of GCSE, BTEC First and Foundation Programmes. The flexibility of our timetable enables us to offer virtually any combination of courses. In addition to your academic studies you will have the opportunity to expand your experiences by choosing one of our enrichment options.
The college operates on an ethos of mutual respect where we will treat you as a mature young adult, with a minimum of rules provided you stick to the college's expectation that you will work and play hard.
And our students achieve excellent results. In 2011,
• Over 97% passed A Levels
• 100% passed BTECs
• Over 10% achieved straight A*/ A grades or equivalent
• Over 600 students progressed on to higher education.
If you’re prepared to work hard, John Leggott College will provide you with the education you need to achieve your dream career. Call or email with enquiries or for further information.

“From 2005 - 2007 I thoroughly enjoyed reading for my AS and A Levels at John Leggott College. The college creates a community of tolerance, education and free thinking which I responded to eagerly and found that I was able to express my opinions and myself whilst being guided through the knowledge of the excellently trained lecturers and teachers.
I hold the English department in particular high regard after being taught English literature by Tristessa Moore with passion and exuberance, learning about the text and what it means whilst being nurtured as both a student and a young adult in preparation for university and my future as someone who counts and can make a difference.
The sociology A Level is also taught to a degree that induces free thinking on a level that is appreciated and discussed with the class. As individuals the college insists on an environment where people are allowed to bounce ideas around with their peers and teachers and experiment with what they find challenging in order to break down those mental blocks that we may have.
The college offers excellent canteen services and plenty of space for students to relax or study in free periods and lunch breaks. There is also ample access to computer technology and wi-fi so academics are always capable of accessing vital online knowledge for exam revision.
I went to John Leggott College as I was living locally at the time and the travel options were easily accessible for me due to the college's links with my high school. However, as a 23 year old now I realise that I would not have gone anywhere else. I feel that the education and community spirit I encountered at John Leggott, in particular the English department, was essential in gaining the qualifications I now possess from their establishment and the 2.1 BA degree in English and Film at Manchester.”

“Although a while since I attended here I cannot praise the place enough. It really did make a significant difference to me as a person. This was the result of a combination of both the encouragement given by some of the tutors and the chance to socialise with others from outside of your original secondary school 'bubble'.
There's no doubt that my time at JLC made me who I am today and gave me the skills and confidence to enter the world of work and even undertake a bachelors degree as a mature student, 10 years on.
It had some great facilities and gave you the opportunity to really pursue your interests of both an academic and extra-curricular nature such as the numerous sports teams and clubs.
I'm sad to see the place receive a poor Ofsted recently but I have no doubt that some of the talented staff who remain there from when I attended will pick up the baton and bring the place back to its former glory. I hope future prospective students will give the place a chance again to prove what a difference it can make them and their futures. Thank you JLC!”

“Having spent two years at the college, I can safely say that going to John Leggott was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not only did the college provide a great step into more independant learning, but also captured my interests with enthusiastic staff and a wide range of subjects and courses to choose from. Having studied A level English Literature, Drama and Theatre Studies, Psychology, History and General Studies, the college helped me to achieve my potential, gaining a fantastic set of results by the time I left, (some subjects booted by 2 grades between AS and A2!!!) All in all John Leggott have provided me with some great academic opppertunities but also a plethora of happy memories. I'd definately recommend John Leggott College to any prospective student.”Report

“I went to John Leggott College and studied English, Psychology, and Law. I spent two years there and only have good things to say about them!
English was by far my favourite subject, the course was great but what I remember and appreciated more than anything were the superb teaching standards. The teachers made the lessons enjoyable and educational (which doesn't happen everywhere - believe me!) Tristessa Moore inspired me to study for my English degree at the University of Lincoln and without JLC I wouldn't be where I am now (recently graduated and working full time to ensure students have the best experience throughout their journey in higher education)
My sister also attends (and studies English!) and has raving reviews about the course and teachers - 5 years later! This tells you John Leggott College is consistent place to study and has really gone from strength to strength over the years!
I'd recommend it to anyone. ”

“I went to John Leggott College and studied Graphic Design, Media Studies and Sociology. I had a brilliant time at college and enjoyed the subjects I chose.
My favourite subject was Graphic Design. I had a brilliant teacher who was extremely enthusiastic about the subject and gave a lot of help all students. She had such a broad knowledge about graphic design, and I feel priveledged to have been taught by somebody so talented. I feel my teacher was fair as she gave all students help and this is what made my time on this course so great.
The other staff in the art department were great. Although I did not get taught by many, I saw that they were helpful and knew alot about the subjects they were teaching.
The college has great facilities, and a lot of room to do work in groups or one your own. This makes it really easy to get on with work.
I would recommend anybody to come to this college as it is really good, and a great place to study. It has a good atmosphere, and some brilliant teachers.
Since leaving John Leggott I have gone to Hull College before going to University and this makes me realise just how much I liked Leggott and how good it was as a college.
I really feel like this college has given me the best possible start towards my career in Graphic Design. I am so glad I came here.

“My time at John Leggott College gave me a great start towards my dreams for the future. During my time at the college I made some amazing friends and happy memories which I will keep for life. Not to mention the support, communication and outstanding knowledge from all the staff! I studied Media Studies, Graphic design and Photography, and each one I would not hesitate to recommend without fault. Each complimented the other perfectly. The tutors had great communication between one another which allowed me to get the most out of each subject, producing and learning to the highest of my ability. Without these tutors, I would not have learnt and produced the work I did, and am doing today. The work produced during my time at John Leggott College helped me gain entry to one of the best Creative universities in England, The University for the Creative Arts to study BA (Hons) Graphic Communication. Academics aside, John Leggott College also helped teach me important life skills, which will never be forgotten, even if I had not followed the same academic route as the subjects I took. The great communication and relationships between students and tutors, helped build respect and understanding for others, and gave me the confidence and determination to take a gap year to travel. These skills are essential in the steps to growing up, and are what I most appreciate about my time at John Leggott College. ”Report

“I attended John Leggott College for 3 years from 2007 to 2010 and they deffinately were 3 of the best years of my life. I made many friends, had so many fun times and have loads of happy memories. Over the three years i gained a BTEC National Diploma in Media, an A Level in Performing Arts and a BTEC National Certificate in Sports and Excellence which have helped me to go on and obtain a permemant job along with a 5 month visa to the USA. Most recently the College has worked closely with me again to assist me in achieving a 18 month visa to the USA to work with children and adults with special needs, a job ive been passionate about for a long time, and fufilling my dream of living and working in America to obatining a permenant visa. The lecturers are all very friendly, proffessional and go above and beyond to help out the students on the courses. This made the College an enspiring and nuturing environment in which to learn and has assisted me in achieveing my goals in life and ultimately fufilling my dreams.
