She was so excited, picking up the tooth to put in her silver pocket
Bluebell sat patiently waiting for the signal to come. You see once a fairy has grown her wings and can fly, she joins all the other fairies in the kingdom to collect children's teeth that have fallen out. The first tooth collected by the fairy means the queen of fairies gives them their own "magic wand".
All of a sudden the bell rang, "ting a-ling", it made Bluebell jump, that was the signal. All the fairies flew up in the air; there was a tooth to be collected. It was under Sarah's pillow at 7 Beachnut Drive. Bluebell was so excited flying with the other fairies but her wings soon started to feel very tired and she couldn't keep up with everyone.
By the time Bluebell arrived at Sarah's house she was too late. Her friend Sunnela had already collected the tooth and was on her way back to the queen's castle. Poor Bluebell, night after night she tried to reach the teeth before the other fairies, but it was no good her wings seemed to tire so quickly.
The other fairies tried to make her feel better and the queen said: "Don't give up Bluebell, you will get your wand one day."
Feeling very sad Bluebell flew into a nearby park and landed on a toadstool. Bluebell watched a mother duck with her babies swimming in the pond, people were throwing bread to them.
Bluebell watched two little girls playing happily on the swings, their mummies were pushing them, making them laugh. Their names were Holly and Daisy (all fairies know children's names). Soon the children were going home with their mummies, skipping out of the park. Suddenly Bluebell saw something fall out of Holly's pocket as she skipped along. As fast as her wings would go she flew to where it fell. Lying on the grass was a piece of tissue paper. Bluebell picked it up and was just about to put it in a nearby bin when she saw something glinting on the grass nearby. There sparkling in the sunshine lay Holly's tooth, it must have fallen out of the paper when she picked it up.
Bluebell was so excited, picking up the tooth and placing it safely in her silver pocket thought: "I will fly to the castle and get my wand,"
But poor Holly will think she has lost her tooth.
"I know," thought Bluebell, "I will take a silver coin to Holly's house tonight and put it under her pillow."
That night with the tooth safely in her pocket and the coin placed under Holly's pillow, Bluebell flew back to fairyland as fast as she could. As she flew in, the other fairies clapped and cheered: "Hooray, well done Bluebell."
Bluebell stood patiently waiting in line behind the other fairies until at last it was her turn to give her tooth to the queen. Proudly handing her tooth into her waiting hand, the queen then took it and placed it with the others into a shiny glass bowl. Then taking out a silver wand from a blue velvet bag and placing it into Bluebell's waiting hand said, "Well done Bluebell, I proudly present you with your own magic wand."
