'We fear quarry could reopen'
RESIDENTS living near a North Lincolnshire quarry have told of their concerns plans to reopen the site could finally get the go-ahead.
A scheme to mine limestone at Hibaldstow Quarry have been resisted by North Lincolnshire Council since October 2007, but the council has now withdrawn its objection.

CONCERN: Resident George Whiterod at the entrance to the Hibaldstow Quarry, which he fears could reopen after the council withdrew its objection to the plans.
A public inquiry is due to make a final decision on the plans, which would also see a new recycling centre built between Hibaldstow and Redbourne, in January.
Redbourne resident George Whiterod (68) said: "I've been told by the case officer that North Lincolnshire Council is withdrawing its objection to the development but that the refusal of planning still stands. Because of that, the inquiry will still go ahead.
"I don't know what the situation is."
A North Lincolnshire Council spokeswoman said: "Following new information submitted by the applicant, it has been decided that the council cease to oppose the application.
"At this moment in time, the inquiry may still go ahead if the parish councils do not withdraw their objection."

“For all of you making comments, if you live in Redbourne especially the main road through it will have an impact with all the extra articulated lorries passing through. If they open the quarry and recycling plant come and live on the main road for a month then tell us residents that it isnt noisy and doesnt have an impact.”

“Seemingly no-one, including Mr Whiterod and the Parish Council, have actually read the application details before getting in a flap. This isn't a recycling centre like the one's at Broughton and Cottage Beck, it's a place where they crush and export builders rubble and fine stone. It doesn't smell, it isn't domestic waste, none of the local residents will probably realise it;s opened! Do the residents of North Lincolnshire realise that if the Inquiry finds against the Parish Council (and North Lincs Council for refusing in the 1st place) potentially huge costs can be awarded, all of which will go on our Council tax? I hope everyone thinks thats good value for money to pay for the actions of all the NIMBYs in Redbourne!”

“no-nimby i thought a modern recycling centre was somewhere where they seperate all the rubbish then send it to china to be dumped in landfill, as has been documented in the national media.”

“Modern recycling still stinks and blights the locality.”

“This won't create many jobs, but it will create a few. And "get real" should heed their own advice and find out what a modern recycling centre is before passing judgement. Hibaldstow and Redbourne need to be working rural communities, not just retirement centres.”

Isn't that just another name for a tip.”

“I am looking at buying these Quarry's to add to my existing Quarry so I can place all the child molesters and Burglars and drug dealers so they can spend 10 hours a day smashing more rocks, this is good news all round for law abiding citizens of N Lincolnshire.”
