CONFIDENT Ian Baraclough is sure the Championship survival chase still has plenty of twists and turns left in it.

Scunthorpe United head into tomorrow's home clash with in-form Swansea City on the back of two consecutive 2-0 losses, at Bristol City and Portsmouth.

As a result, they remain third bottom, four points adrift of Crystal Palace.

It is a scenario which has many outsiders predicting the Iron's demise to League One.

But Baraclough believes there is time for one of a number of strugglers in the division to drop into the thick of the tussle to avoid the drop.

"Having been beaten these last two games, a lot of people outside this club will say the bottom three could almost be set in stone," Baraclough told the Telegraph.

"That is not the case.

"Palace are four points ahead, we have a game in hand and we have to play them.

"It is still in our own hands.

"Yes, if we drop more points, and Crystal Palace keep picking up points, then the gap can get to a position where mentally you can look at it and it can start to deflate you.

"But we are not thinking that way.

"There are still other teams that are not putting results together that can get dragged down as well.

"This season has still got a quarter of the way to go.

"If you put a run together, with 13 games to go, there are still so many points to play for."

Tomorrow's visit of the second placed Swans is a perfect opportunity, insists Baraclough, to stick the knife into United's fellow relegation rivals.

"We are going full out in every game to try to win," he concluded.

"Swansea tomorrow is a great chance for us to pick up three points, help ourselves in the league table and mentally kill off one or two others.

"If they see we get a result against Swansea, and they will have seen we have beaten Nottingham Forest, all of a sudden you are a force at home.

"It is one of the top two coming to town.

"They are on a massive high, but it has, in the past, brought the best out of us.

"I think we have got over the hurdle of not winning here in a fair while and now the players are fully focused.

"The home form has got to be key to staying in this division.

"That is the way I am looking at it."
