Have you ever thought about becoming a foster carer?

North Lincolnshire Council's fostering team will be in Scunthorpe on Friday to help people find out more about how they can make a difference to a child's life.

They will take their roadshow to 20-21 Visual Arts Centre, in Church Square, from 10am to 1pm, and The Pods, in Ashby Road, from 2pm to 4pm.

Fostering is a way people can provide a family life for children who cannot live with their own parents for a number of reasons that may include, neglect, family breakdown, bereavement or illness.

Often children will return home once the problems that have caused them to come into foster care have been resolved. In other cases children will stay in long-term foster care, move to an adoptive family or go on to live independently.

People who are interested in becoming a foster carer must have the time and energy to invest in a child or young person and undergo a thorough interview process before you can attend the course.

Foster carers create an environment in which young people can feel well looked after, valued and supported.  Prospective foster carers will need to have patience and understanding in order to work effectively with children and young people to help them develop and succeed.
