Inspired by London 2012? Well, you don't have to win an Olympic medal to be a real champion.

Dozens of ordinary people in North Lincolnshire are already doing an amazing thing by helping save the lives of friends, family, workmates and total strangers.

Enabling people to spot the potential symptoms of cancer early saves lives.

It means doctors can intervene very quickly, making treatment more effective and improving the chances of a full recovery.

North Lincolnshire has a fantastic team of cancer champions, who are everyday people willing to give up a few hours of their time to do a remarkable thing.

They talk to others about the importance of following up those little health niggles that sometimes can be very early symptoms of something more serious.

They might not be able to run 100m in under 10 seconds, their high jump isn't great and their dressage may lack finesse but our team really are champions.

It doesn't take up a lot of your time.

We give you full training (you get a certificate) and then you simply share what you've learned with others – chatting with friends, catching up with family, at work or down the pub.

It's beautifully simple and it works.

Saving lives in your community? Now, that's worth more than having 100 gold medals around your neck.

If you're interested in leaving cancer standing (whether you've personally experienced it or not) and want to find out more about becoming a champion, call Bob on 07826 908595.
