Corporal Bryan James Budd

Fallen heroes

The faces you see below portray the human cost of the British Forces' campaign in Afghanistan since it began in October 2001.

Among those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country is Paratrooper Bryan Budd, who was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery. Corporal Budd, 29, who went to school in Scunthorpe, was killed in a gun battle with the Taliban on 20 August, 2006.
